We are not exaggerating when we say it is The Best CI plan in the market.
About Aviva MyMultiPay CI III
Multiple payout critical illness plans are slowly getting traction and more and more insurers are coming up with their version of it. Well into the 3rd version since its initial release in early 2017, Aviva’s MyMultiPay CI III is one of the first few insurers to launch such a plan, structuring theirs with layers of payouts as well as categorizing critical illnesses into “pots” of cancer, heart related and nervous system related Critical Illnesses (CIs).
These 4 layers span from early to intermediate to advance stages of CIs, enhancing your protection up to 600% of the sum assured even if you currently have an Early CI protection plan. These are all listed under the 37 listed Critical Illness by LIA which is going to be changed by this year.

Also, not forgetting Special Benefits including Diabetic Complications, Kawasaki Disease, Angioplasty or Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (and more) with a total of 24 conditions. This pays an additional 20% of the sum assured, not reducing it.
Why Get a Multiple-Pay Critical Illness Plan?
There are many different types of multiple-pay plans in the market today with many bells and whistles. Most requires you to wait for 12-months after a claim, some do not have any waiting periods for certain claims, and some have death benefits while some only has a low death payout. Yup, death payout and death benefits are 2 different things altogether.
Fundamentally, the issue/problem that Mutliple-Payout Critical Illness (CI) plans seek to address is to be the solution for one simple concern:
In the event of being diagnosed with early stage critical illness and receiving a payout for the first time, are you concerned that this critical illness may relapse? Or a new critical illness may arise? Or what if it persists?
Some simple definitions:
CI Relapse – A stage 0 or stage 1 cancer patient that sees remission of cancer cells is glad now but may not know when it may relapse again 5 to 8 years later.
New Diagnosis of a different CI – First diagnosed with heart issues, then next diagnosed with cancer. This may take a few years in between.
CI Persists – A stage 2 cancer that get better (or worse) and still remains at stage 2 after years of treatments.
The main structure for Aviva’s MultiPay CI structure is that it classifies Critical Illnesses (CI) into 3 main categories (called pots by Aviva): Cancer related CI, Heart related CI and Nervous system/ other systemic related conditions.
The 1st Layer
The first layer covers for Early and Intermediate Stage Critical Illnesses (CI). The Early and/or Intermediate Stage of Critical Illnesses are grouped into 3 categories, or Pots which Aviva calls it:
- Pot 1: Early Cancer and illnesses relating to major organs
- Pot 2: Heart-related illnesses
- Pot 3: Illnesses related to the nervous system and other systemic conditions
Once diagnosed with early or intermediate CI, a sum assured equivalent to 100% of it will be paid out. A maximum of 2 out of the 3 pots can be covered for, even if they are early stages CI, with NO waiting period between each claim and payout. This layer pays up to 200% of the sum assured amount.
The 2nd Layer
The second layer will see a payout for the advance/severe stage CI, up to 300% of the basic sum assured. There is no waiting period from the 1st layer to the 2nd layer. It will only be paid once in this layer, less any claims made in the previous layer.
Once this layer’s payout is claimed, any premiums moving forward will be waived in the future, from the next policy anniversary date.
This is the main difference between this MultiPay CI plan and most Multiple Payout CI plans. For most, there will be a 1 year waiting period in between each claims and the payout is at 100% of basic sum assured no matter the stage of CI you are diagnosed with. If you are diagnosed with advance stage CI, skipping the early or intermediate stage, then a whole 300% of basic sum assured will be paid out, as compared to the other Multople Payout structure mentioned above.
The 3rd Layer
The 3rd and 4th layer forms the last 2 safety nets for this multiple payout plan. If advance stage CI of Major Cancer, Heart Attack or Stroke reoccurs, re-diagnosed or even a new pot of CI (previously Cancer, Heart Attack now) were to be diagnosed, 150% of sum assured will be paid out with a 2 year waiting period from the 2nd layer’s payout claim.
This also means if previously the advance stage cancer in layer 2 were to persist, meaning it never got better nor worse, it remains (aka persist), it is also claimable, with a 2 years waiting period in between.
The 4th Layer
Similar to layer 3, the 4th layer also covers for 150% for advance stage CI. Re-occurrence, re-diagnosed or new CI for Major Cancer, Heart Attack or Stroke is also covered for.
With a total of 24 conditions (12 for Juvenile and 12 for Adults) including Diabetic Complications or Angioplasty, this pays an additional 20% of the sum assured, not reducing it. You can make up to 6 separate claims and they will not reduce or affect your main sum assured in any way.
For conditions 1 to 13, they will be covered up to age 85 (Age Next Birthday) or end of policy, whichever happens first.
The 24 conditions are:
- Diabetic Complications
- Angioplasty & Other Invasive Treatment For Coronary Artery
- Osteoporosis with Fractures
- Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Chronic Adrenal Insufficiency (Addison’s Disease)
- Chronic Relapsing Pancreatitis
- Hysterectomy due to Cancer
- Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever
- Wilson’s Disease
- Severe Crohn’s Disease
- Severe Ulcerative Colitis
For conditions 14 to 24, they are for juvenile and covers up to age 18 (Age Next Birthday) or end of policy, whichever happens first.
- Severe Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (Stills Disease)
- Severe Haemophilia
- Rheumatic Fever with Valvular Impairment
- Osteogenesis Imperfecta
- Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus
- Kawasaki Disease
- Glomerulonephritis with Nephrotic Syndrome
- Type I Juvenile Spinal Amyotrophy
- Autism of Specified Severity
- Generalised Tetanus
Aviva MyMultipay CI III
The Aviva MyMultiPay CI III is one of best critical illness coverage in the market, covering early to intermediate to advance stage CI on a multiple payout basis. Not only is it highly flexible, the multiple payout structure is much more lenient compared to the rest of the multipay CI plans out there.
Here is what we mean:
Versatile – Aviva’s MyMultiPay CI III has a term period of a minimum 5 years all the way to age 99. If you want something in between say 17 years or a good number if 28 or 38 years coverage, then Aviva is the only one that is this adjustable.
Premium Waiver – Upon diagnosis of Critical Illness, future premiums will automatically be waived off, without the need to purchase additional premium waiver riders, as with other CI plans in the market.
Available as Stanalone Or Rider to Whole Life & Term Plan – Perhaps the most valued feature, the secret weapon for this plan is that it can be added as a rider (supplementary benefit) to Aviva’s main term plan, the MyProtector Term II, and also to Aviva’s Whole Life plan, the MyWholeLifePlan III. Adding as rider is cheaper than a standalone.
No Waiting Period – As critical illness conditions may escalate depending on the illness itself, Early to Late Stage CI diagnosis forms a crucial concern when looking at getting a multiple payout CI plan. As such, the waiting period is important and helpful when it comes to claims and payout. In the event of advance stage, 300% of sum assured will be paid out, beating most competition of only 100% for advance stage. For example, a $150, 000 sum assured coverage will pay out $450, 000 in the even to of advance stage CI.
Relapse/ Persistency/ Metastasis For Major Cancer, Heart Attack & Stroke – The first in the market to do so, covers for not just recurrent, but persistency of the illness. Also covers for new category of CI not claimed in previous payouts.
Special Benefits – including Juvenile and Special conditions, additional 20% capped at $25, 000 will be paid out. Maximum of 6 claims. This will not reduce your sum assured.
Death Benefit – As this is an Early Stage CI plan, death benefit looks at $5, 000 for your family/ loved ones in the event of death or Total Permanent Disability (TPD).

Is Aviva MyMultipay CI III for you?
At the 3rd iteration of the plan, Aviva has tweaked and found a sweet spot on the multiple payout for critical illness arena. As more and more unknown viruses and illnesses are emerging, the truth is we will never know when the next widespread disease will strike.
No time is a good time to get adequate critical illness coverage. The truth is such that as you sit on it, age catches up and premiums will ultimately increase. Also there is a risk of change in health conditions, rendering inability to get the coverage by the time you want it in future.
